5 New Holiday Decorating Trends

What’s your holiday decorating style? Whether it’s traditional or a little more out there, here are five new holiday decorating trends you can work into your existing decor!

Woodland Wonderland

Think tiny forest creatures and nature-inspired touches. I love the snowy felt letter ornament, garland made of fabric mushrooms and beyond adorable chubby owl that would look right at home in your tree. The tree skirt’s a soft cream color with subtle gold stars that plays well with the natural touches.

Mid-Century Mood

This decor’s right up your alley if you’re a fan of the ever-popular mid-century modern style. The vintage revival Shiny-Brite ornaments recall space age shapes while the tinsel starbursts and glass baubles are just plain fun! The decidedly modern red and white pom-pom tree skirt pops beneath the buttercream tree which is the perfect backdrop for those interesting, colorful ornaments.

Festive Foodie

This decor style is one of my favorites since I’m always hungry! I love that the miniature food ornaments can be customized to your family – for example, my husband loves sardines (which I find disgusting) so that would be a fun ornament to present him with. The ice cream with sprinkles and the happy avocado are too cute as well. They’ll all look great on a bubble gum pink tree for a touch of the unexpected, finished off with a silver velvet tree skirt to ground all the color.

Colorful Cheer

I love how happy this colorful style is – rainbows everywhere! The tree itself is amazing, you could even color coordinate ornaments to the different blocks of color. My favorite ornament is the rainbow heart, created by West Elm with The Trevor Project – 50% of the purchase price goes the world’s largest provider of crisis intervention and suicide prevention services for LGBTQ young people. The tree skirt ties it all together with the rainbow colored pom-poms for a look that’s pure joy.

Sea Tree

The cute mom and baby whale kick off the fun, followed by a luxe oyster ornament complete with pearl and mercury glass sea creatures that’ll sparkle like sunlight on waves. The starfish tree skirt helps set the salty mood, and the blue tree is a casual-cool style that works perfectly with this ocean-themed Christmas!
